£2,500 incentive to recruit a trained apprentice
21 Feb 2010
The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) is providing grants of £2,500 to fund and incentivise the recruitment and training of up to 5000 apprentices aged 16 or 17.
This means that cycle retailers could have a Cytech qualified young mechanic, plus £2500 before the end of March and prior to the Easter seasonal uplift.
The cycle trade is an increasingly attractive environment for school leavers who want to learn a technical skill, gain a recognised qualification and build a career in a growing retail sector.
The objective is to support small employers who would not otherwise have been in a position to recruit apprentices at this time.
ATG Training can provide speedy confirmation that the grant is applicable to your business and ActSmart can provide an immediate job advertisiement opportunity via our recruitment service to the cycling public, available free of charge to ActSmart subscribers.
Grant payments will be issued by NAS through ATG Training, who will manage the administration process. The grants will be paid in 2 instalments, £1,500 when the young person commences employment with the balance of £1,000 after 12 weeks employment.
The £2,500 grant is in addition to the costs of training, which will be met by NAS and arranged via ATG training.
All 16 and 17 year olds who are not currently in employment and not already on an apprenticeship programme are eligible.
